About the Role

This Senior Business Analyst is accountable for requirements definition and management for the Integrated Energy Management Upgrade project, as well as test strategy, planning, test case development, execution, and defect management.  This project supports an upgrade to Xcel Energy’s Energy Accounting system, transitioning our current on-premise solution to a hosted solution with the solution vendor, OATI.  The project will upgrade the OATI solution and re-platform to the hosted environment at OATI.

Project activities include developing as-is and to-be workflows, gathering and documenting functional requirements, producing use cases, requirement change management, documentation, distribution and archiving of meeting minutes including related action items, next steps, risks, issues, and decisions, and ensuring traceability from requirements to test cases.  Additionally, this position will be responsible to develop and maintain a variety of visual diagrams that represent various process flows, functional flows, project timeline for foundational use across and throughout the project lifecycle.  Finally, this position will be responsible for developing an appropriate test strategy, individual test cycle test plans, development of test cases which trace to requirements, oversight of execution of all appropriate test cases, and management of defects to resolution.

Candidates in Minneapolis, MN and Denver, CO will be considered for a hybrid schedule. There is a possiblity for a 100% remote schedule for candidates outside the preferred locations. 

What You Will Do

  • Works closely with a variety of Business stakeholders from multiple business areas within Xcel Energy (Transmission, Technology Services, Commercial Operations, etc) to identify, analyze and document Business requirements and related work products throughout the project life cycle.  
  • Facilitates Business and technical requirement meetings and reviews, build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and vendors, keep stakeholders focused on a common goal, and the ability to effectively document the Business and technical requirements in use case form. 
  • Develops test strategy and test plans, as well as test cases for each test cycle and drives execution of all test cycles as well as defect resolution. 
  • Provides summary of testing results to project stakeholders in support of Go/No-Go decisioning.

What You Will Need

  • Minimum 5 years of Business Analyst experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of Test Lead experience.
  • Proven experience collecting and managing Business needs and requirements throughout a project lifecycle (initiation, planning, design, development, testing and implementation).
  • Proven success documenting Business needs and requirements with a diverse group of stakeholders and delivering well written use cases that can be tied directly to design and test documents.
  • Proven success planning, executing and managing all aspects of Testing of a complex, regulated system.
  • Proven success driving defect resolution to meet an established deployment date with a high-quality solution.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to review design documentation and test cases to ensure alignment and coverage of all requirements.
  • Ability to collect, manage and quantify requirement change requests.
  • Experience with requirements definition and change management on a COTS upgrade or implementation software project, including various integrations with internal and external systems.
  • Direct experience as a BA/TL at a Utility is preferred.  Specifically, familiarity with Electric Transmission business processes is highly desired.

 

This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $75.00/hour - $100.00/hour
